Dr. Eilers is an expert in domestic violence, trauma, and post-separation abuse. She has personally experienced the trauma and chaos of the family court system, so she gets it. You will be provided education and experiential exercises to support you with providing effective and compassionate parenting while navigating the process of parallel parenting with the other parent. We will work together to recognize trauma triggers for both you and your child. Then, we will work together to understand the 6 processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). You will also be provided with tools to monitor your child’s behavior to demonstrate a relationship between events (e.g., changes in schedule, other parent’s behavior, your behavior) and changes in your child’s behavior. This information will help us decide which events can be changed (i.e., things under your control) to improve your child’s behavior and what events are outside of your control (e.g., other parent’s behavior, changes in the court order, changes at school). Sessions will consist of educational material combined with experiential exercises.
